The School of Environment and Development invites applications for a fully-funded scholarship for candidates from developing countries for Master`s study by distance learning on the MSc Management and Information Systems. The scholarship will cover all study costs including tuition and examining fees and course material costs.
MSc Management and Information Systems
The MSc in M&IS develops the "hybrid" mix of management and information systems skills that we know from experience is essential to the successful and strategic application of information and communication technologies by today`s organisations.
It is designed to develop two groups of participants in developing and transitional economies: functional managers who wish to take greater control over, and make a more direct contribution to, change in their organisations via the development and implementation of information systems; and information systems professionals who wish to improve the success rate of the information systems they develop or use, and who may also wish to upgrade their management skills and knowledge.
The programme is offered by IDPM`s Development Informatics Group, with staff members contributing to the University`s Centre for Development Informatics.
Who studies on this programme?
The MSc M&IS programme is available through distance learning so that practitioners can study while continuing to work in their ongoing professional roles, in the public, private and civil society sectors, or in roles in international organisations, agencies or NGOs. Students work alongside their MSc study, and complete the programme part-time, typically in about two-and-a-half years.

The scholarships are intended to support students from developing countries who would not otherwise be able to study for a UK qualification.
Applicants should:
1.
Be a national of and resident in a developing country of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America or Oceania.
2.
Have at least two years` work experience in a post relevant to their MSc M&IS studies.
3.
Hold a UK second class honours, upper division, or above, or its international equivalent, in their Bachelor`s degree.
Applicants must not have previously studied in a developed country (short/language courses excluded).

Deadline for applications
The deadline for applications to be submitted is Friday 17th December 2010 17.00 GMT. If you are successful you will be notified by the end of December 2010 and start the programme in January 2011.

UK:MSc Management and Information Systems Scholarship for Study by Distance Learning at University of Manchester

I do have a dream which was grown up within me starting from my high school age in which I can play roles significant to my country (at least) and even to the world concerning Biodiversity protection and control of environmental problems such as pollution and spread of diseases. For this purpose I selected Biology as my major field of study in the beginning of my higher institute (college) study. In order to get my dream come true and widen my action to the levels of country, continent and world wide I have to grow first my selves educational Level to masters, PhD and above positions. Despite these I was happen to work (teach) in remote area for longer time where no one was fortunate to get his/her MSc education. Now your scholarship is coming to become my dream hope window in which financial aids are provided to me. I hope your master’s scholarship studies will equip me with the knowledge and skills of dealing with biodiversity and environmental problems. In my return to my country I will create conditions in which the society will get itself directly responsible for him selves’ environmental problems and biodiversity protection. As I am from tropical country (Ethiopia) which is rich in biodiversity; I would like to take responsibility of minimizing man`s unwise activity against biodiversity. In my country there are greater than nine national parks which are homes for numerous living species. The growing human population in my country is exerting its negative effect on wild life in many ways and these will also be my point of attention in my return to my country. After my study I will search, create cooperation, and regular connection with both governmental and non-governmental bodies that has similar interest, dream and willingness with me. Through these bodies support I will grow my capacity towards my dream achievement. I strongly believe in that there will come time when your organization that grown up me with this scholarship could get blessed by me and my colleagues in the achievement of my wide dream. With no hesitation my dream will come true.
