Scholarship Description: The Sylvia Taylor Johnson Fellowship is part of the postdoctoral fellowship program at ETS. Sylvia Taylor Johnson had a significant influence nationally on educational measurement and assessment through her research, extensive writings and service to the educational community as an educator, editor, counselor, committee member and collaborator. Dr. Johnson was a Professor of Research Methodology and Statistics at Howard University’s School of Education. She also made significant contributions to ETS and was a valued colleague of many ETS staff. In honor of Dr. Johnson’s important contributions to the field of education, ETS has established the Sylvia Taylor Johnson Fellowship in Educational Measurement. Members of underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply for this fellowship.
Individuals who have earned their doctoral degrees within the past ten years are invited to apply for a unique fellowship experience which combines working on cutting-edge ETS research projects and conducting independent research that is relevant to ETS’ goals. The fellowship is carried out in the ETS offices in Princeton, N.J. The Sylvia Taylor Johnson Fellowship in Educational Measurement seeks to significantly increase the involvement of highly skilled individuals in research and development in the fields listed below. Studies concerning the education of minority students are especially encouraged.
